Principles for Selecting Transformers

1. The transformer capacity should be selected based on the calculated load, and the long-term load rate of the transformer should not exceed 85%.

2. The Distribution Transformer in the power supply and distribution system should be selected from the Dyn11 connection group.

3. The number of transformers should be selected based on load characteristics and economic operation. When one of the following conditions is met, it is advisable to install two or more transformers:

1) There is a large number of primary or secondary loads;

2) Seasonal load changes are significant;

3) Concentrated load is relatively large.

4. For substations equipped with two or more transformers, when either transformer is disconnected, the capacity of the remaining transformers should meet the electricity consumption of the first and second-level loads.

5. For loads with significant daily or seasonal fluctuations, power transformers with inconsistent capacity can be used after technical and economic comparison.

6. 20KV, 10KV, and 6kV distribution transformers should not be used on load voltage regulating transformers. Still, when the voltage deviation of the 20, 10, and 6kV power supply cannot meet the requirements, and the user has equipment with strict voltage requirements. It is not reasonable to set up a separate voltage-regulating device technology; 20, 10, and 6kV on-load voltage regulating transformers can also be used.
